Volunteering

The work of the Reserve and other organisations working towards the conservation of the Fleet and Chesil Beach is greatly assisted by the help of volunteers.

The work carried out by volunteers covers a wide range of activities. These include:

  • Manning the Chesil Beach Visitors Centre at Ferrybridge in order to inform and assist visitors to the reserve area

  • Monitoring the little tern colony during the nesting season to minimise human disturbance

  • Practical work on the beach and along the Fleet foreshore

  • Annual litter picks

  • Assisting with walks and talks

  • Routine maintenance of the CMMP equipment

If you would like to volunteer why not contact the Reserve office at the Chesil Visitors Centre either by phone or in person. See the contact page for details.

Other volunteer groups also assist with Chesil Beach conservation, such as the Portland-based Island Volunteers for You (IVY) group
