School groups are welcome to visit the Centre and Chesil Beach but entrance to the Centre must be by prior arrangement. A small charge will be made depending on the duration of the visit and the number in the group. Please contact Hazel Griffiths or the duty volunteer at the Centre for more information.
The Chesil Beach Visitors Centre offers audio-visual interpretations of the formation of Chesil Beach, a section through a Portland quarry, live sea bed camera pictures and much more. There is an information pack and DVD, which includes KS2&3 worksheets, available on request from the Centre.
We offer guided walks and/or talks and these can be adapted to suit age and subject matter.
The Chesil Tea Cabin next door to the Centre offers hot and cold food and drinks. (N.B. Open in winter by arrangement.)
The Centre and its immediate surroundings are suitable for the disabled. However, at times the car park can get a little uneven, particularly during the winter. There is a large pay and display car park immediately adjacent to the Centre suitable for cars and coaches. |
