Events - June 2010

	6th - The wild plants of Abbotsbury Beach Come and see the shingle and coastal plants on the Abbotsbury stretch of Chesil Beach. Sturdy footwear required because of the loose shingle. Book with Natural England on 01929 557456. This is a free event. Meet at the Abbotsbury Beach car park at 2:30pm.
	8th - World Oceans Day Displays at the Chesil Centre.
	13th - Low tide walk at Pirates Cove Join one of our guides for a walk around Pirates Cove looking at the underwater life exposed at low tide. Meet at the end of Camp Road at 1:30pm
	27th - Fossils at Ferrybridge An exploration of the Fleet foreshore looking for fossils. Meet at the Crab House Cafe at 2pm

Information on all events is available from the Chesil Beach Visitors Centre, open 10am-4pm. 01305 760579

The Centre is located at NGR SY668755 on the car park south of Ferrybridge. For GPS users, the postcode is DT9 9XE.

Please note that all events are subject to change. Please contact the Visitors Centre beforehand to ensure the event is still as planned. On the day, the event may be cancelled due to inclement weather or insufficient attendance.

Standard charges for walks are children £2, adults £3.

The water is now warming and rockpooling is enjoyed by children of all ages. Why not come and explore the life along the shore of the Fleet at low tide. We offer a number of guided events throughout the summer where local experts can identify the animals that you find.

World Oceans Day

On June 8th hundreds of communities around the globe will celebrate World Oceans Day – an opportunity to learn about our world ocean and our personal connection to the sea, to raise awareness about the crucial role the ocean plays in our lives, and the important ways people can help to protect our shared world ocean.

Since climate change and the ocean are inextricably tied together, and our society’s future depends on a healthy climate and a healthy world ocean, this year’s theme will better make that connection that binds us together as part of an interconnected planet. This year we are encouraging Partners to promote the theme "one ocean, one climate, one future."
